What a beautiful day it is – well it was, before Noon. It was lovely at 8 AM when I kept my appointment at the salon. Refreshed and perfectly groomed, it took a minute for my couif to go flat, as I hit the wall of heat. The blazing sun seemed to zero in on my long legs, freshly waxed and tingling.
The only thing that comes close, would have to be a summer job, back in HS- working a full 8 in front of a Pizza oven. Digging for my sunglasses, I wondered once again … why anyone would circle the wagons in this part of Texas, and call it home?
All can figure is they hit the river in May, used all their building materials by June, and by then - they were screwed. I’d bet 12/7 - Some time around August 1st, they were looking at a mud puddle that was a river, cotton plants dead in the fields, they were about ready to hang the knuckleheads who decided to park them on this piece of sweltering flat land.
